      Suitability

The house is located 12 minutes from the harbor and Commercial District on the East End of the Pines. It is a relatively quiet neighborhood.

This is not a party house.  Rather, it is suitable for mature adults who are comfortable in a gay community and looking for comfortable, spacious accommodations where they can enjoy the sun, beach, pool, cocktails, and dinners, and also take advantage of a swirling nightlife a short  walk away.

The house is not suitable for children or those with mobility issues. Sorry, pets are not allowed.

      Accommodation

The house has 4 bedrooms, each with a king-sized bed, for a maximum occupancy of 8 people.

No parties or gatherings over 12 people.

      No pets.

      Access

You get to the Pines via the Sayville Ferry Service in Sayville, New York which will take you to the Pines Harbor.  From there you get to the house along Fire Island Blvd by foot. Mobility carts are available and should be reserved ahead of time.

There is a house wagon for luggage and groceries in the harbor wagon bay.  The grocery store (The Pantry) and Liquor Store deliver to the house.

From the house the beach can be accessed via an adjacent walk and is about 100 yards away. The bay can be accessed via the cove at the end of the dirt road and is 50 yards away.

      Services

The house is turnkey.  There are ample pillows, sheets, comforters, towels, kitchen utensils, flatware, cutlery, etc.  You are free to use the wagon, bikes, pool toys and beach and bay equipment at your own risk. Maid service is provided at the end of your stay, but there is no on-demand service.  We ask that you be mindful when cooking or grilling as fire is a major risk in the Pines. Fire extinguishers and hoses are provided.

There are a number of services available in the Pines including excellent grocery and liquor stores,  both of which were featured in the New York Times.

There is a pizza parlor, a sandwich bar at the Pines Pantry and more formal dinner options at the Pines Bistro.  In 2025, the harborside businesses will be under new management who is expected to roll out a slew of new dining and entertainment options, taking advantage of the ambiance of the Pines harbor.

In addition to numerous house parties, traditional activities include Low Tea at the Blue Whale, followed by Pool Deck and Sip Teas.  Late night dancing is at Sip 'N' Twirl or the Pavilion.  Late night piano bar is at the Blue Whale.  There are also events and theme nights, including Show Tunes, at the Pavilion. Recently, there have been a number of pop up beach night parties and throughout the season there are events at Whyte Hall.  These are amply advertised in the harbor and on Fire Island Boulevard.

There are two water taxi services offering easy transport to adjacent Fire Island communities such as Cherry Grove, Ocean Beach and Davis Park.  These communities offer a variety of dining and entertainment options.

      Safety

Fire Island Pines is a beautiful, welcoming, accepting and safe community where you can be your authentic self.  There is virtually no crime  of any kind, but there is a local police and fire station, and commercial businesses have their own security.

There are no major medical facilities or lifeguards in the Pines.  In the event of an emergency, call 911. The house has an emergency medical kit for minor injuries and there is a limited service Pines Care  facility located on the West End of the community.

The boardwalks are slightly elevated and follow the rise and fall of the dunes, making it a little bit like a roller coaster on foot. People have been known to fall off when over-served or preoccupied on their phones.

You are embedded in nature so be careful of ticks and poison ivy, and please don't play with the deer or other wildlife.

Fire is our biggest risk so please be careful when using the grill or stove, and do not leave open flames unattended. The house has fire extinguishers located on each floor, as well as smoke/ CO2 alarms.  There is a hose next to the gas grill.
